Basic description - What is a bucket truck?

A bucket truck, also called an aerial lift, is a truck or van with boom, on the end of the boom it has bucket, basket or platform attached. The bucket has 4 sides (walls or rails), it is attached to the end of boom and that carries workers to do a variety of tasks. Some of the jobs include electrical, communication, advertising or sign, tree or landscape, building maintenance and many more. Heights of bucket trucks vary from 28 feet to over 100 feet above the ground.

  1. TEREX, manufacturer of line trucks, digger derricks, and forestry trucks. To expand their line, in 1997 Terex acquired Telelect and Simon RO. Hi-Ranger aerial devices offered features such as the "straight-line" approach to a work area achieved with the introduction of a compensated boom. In 1992 Telelect acquired the Hi-Ranger product. Terex Telelect currently serves the tree care industry with a range of Telelect Hi-Ranger products to meet a range of applications. The product line is led by the XT series, which was introduced in 1996.
  1. VERSALIFT, The first VERSALIFT was built in 1965 measuring only 24 feet, the unit was used to allow telephone linemen to perform tasks at varying heights in a safe and dependable manner.
    The product line of TIME Manufacturing has expanded to include over 30 Versalift model aerial lifts and digger derricks, as well as CONDOR truck-mounted aerial work platforms.
  1. TELSTA – MTI,  Mobile Tool International (MTI) a Westminster, Colo., lift manufacturer, has business roots dating back to 1954. The origins of the company stem from formation in 1954 of a California firm named Telsta, a manufacturer of specialty truck-mounted lifts primarily for the telephone industry. Telsta products have evolved over the years and primarily focus on the telecommunications industry. General Cable bought Telsta, the company then acquired Holan, a manufacturer of insulated material handling aerial lifts for electric utility construction and maintenance.

The company had its beginnings with a single bay garage, a pickup truck and one man's desire to provide only the best service available in the tree care industry. Today they manufacture and service one brand of bucket truck, the Aerial Lift of Connecticut.
